inglebrae is an informal-style holiday cottage with wide verandahs and a large established garden. It is comfortably furnished and has 3 bedrooms - one with a queen-size bed and t2 single bedrooms, one of which connects with the main bedroom (although with external access off the verandah as well).

Beechworth’s famous Ned Kelly Weekend returns from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 August 2010 with a lively program of re-enactments, theatre, music, displays, competitions and talks by leading authorities on the subject of the life and times of Australia’s most notorious bushranger.
Now in it’s seventh year, Australia’s most significant annual celebration of the Kelly legend commemorates the anniversary of the outlaw’s committal hearing held in the historic Beechworth Courthouse from 6 to 11 August 1880.
This year’s Ned Kelly Weekend is a dual commemorative event, with it being 130 years since Ned Kelly’s committal was held in the historic Courthouse in Ford Street, Beechworth and 30 years since the telemovie The Last Outlaw was filmed.Because of the conjunction of the two anniversaries major events have been planned.

10:45am - 11:30am: Re-enactment - Ned Kelly’s arrival at the Beechworth Railway Station

See Ned Kelly arrive at the station and leave for the Gaol, under police escort. Join in the event by showing your support for Ned or the police. Best vantage point is the corner of Camp and High Streets at 11am.

12noon - 2pm: Re-enactment - Ned Kelly’s Committal Hearing at the historic Beechworth Courthouse

Joe Byrne penned the Jerilderie Letter as dictated to him by Ned Kelly in 1879. In it Kelly railed against his and his family’s treatment by the police and justice system, and the suffering of the Irish under English rule. He warned those with reason to fear him that they should leave Victoria of suffer the consequences. It was a very long letter - 7,500 words - written on 56 pages of blue-lined notepaper. When it was completed the Kelly Gang rode to Jerilderie.

Made in 1980 by Pegasus Productions and Channel Seven Melbourne. Filmed on location in Victoria, it starred John Jarratt as Ned Kelly, Steven Bisley as Joe Byrne, Sigrid Thornton as Kate Kelly, David Bradshaw as Wild Wright, Lewis Fitz-Gerald as Tom Lloyd, Elaine Cusick as Mrs. Kelly, Peter Hehir as Aaron Sherritt and Gerard Kennedy as Harry Power.
Many of these actors will join you tonight.

SUNDAY 8 AUGUST

8:45am - 9:45am: The Life of Sir Redmond Barry

Redmond Barry is hardly a household name in Australia today, but over a 100 years ago almost everyone in the colony of Victoria would have heard of him. Admitted to the bar in his native Ireland in 1838 but with few prospects at home, Barry emigrated to New South Wales, later admitted as a justice of the newly created Supreme Court of Victoria.
In 1880, Barry sat in judgment over Ned Kelly. Barry pronounce the death penalty with the customary “ may the Lord have mercy on your soul,” to which Kelly responded that he would see Barry “where I go.” Kelly was hanged on November 11, 1880, & twelve days later Barry died in his chambers.
Shane Carmody of State Library of Victoria, a renowned expert on Barry, will enthrall you with his exposition on the life of the judge who sentenced Ned Kelly to death.

A Re-Reading of the First Kerferd Oration

The late Hon. John Harber Phillips, A.C., then Chief Justice of Victoria gave the first Kerferd Oration on 27 July 2003 for Beechworth’s Sesquicentenary. He was the state’s most senior judge for 12 years until he retired in 2003. He was appointed Victoria’s first Director of Public Prosecutions in 1983, a Supreme Court judge the following year and in 1990 became chairman of the National Crime Authority. His earlier career as a barrister saw him appear for the defense in many of Australia’s biggest criminal cases, including the trial of Lindy Chamberlain A keen author, playwright and occasional performer, Chief Justice Phillips was a Ned Kelly expert and wrote several books, including an account of Kelly’s trial. In his Oration, Mr. Justice Phillips applied his foresic legal mind to an examination of the evidence against Ned Kelly; he tantalisingly left it to his audience to supply the answer to the question Myth or Reality for themselves. Come and hear Councillor Vic Issell read this oration in memory of a fine judge, Kelly historian and wonderful Victorian. Make up your own mind on the question of Myth or Reality.

Back in 2010 by popular request. Set in the wilds of north-east Victoria, in 1870, this is the true story of Henry Johnstone, alias Harry Power, arguably the most successful bushranger in Australia’s history and his relationship with his star pupil, the teenage Ned Kelly.
As a fugitive from justice, Harry relied on the good faith of ‘supporters’, whose loyalty did not always come cheap. Among these were the Quinn-Lloyd-Kelly clan, the heir apparent to which was a surly 15-year-old youth known as ‘Ned’. Harry took Ned on as his apprentice for a time, teaching him how to survive in the bush and avoid capture. It was this relationship that eventually led to Power’s downfall.

A Hypothetical, with tales of police, hunted men, shoot outs and society today.

Based upon the format of the Geoffrey Robertson Hypothetical’s, which proved so popular on television, this is a Hypothetical, which follows the fortunes of Eduardo and his friends who are hunted by police in a mythical part of a large continent in the southern Hemphishere. Hosted by Kathy Bedford of ABC Radio with an engaging panel including Mrs. Sophie Mirabella MP, and other personalities.
Come and listen as the panel struggle to find the solutions to a wide range of issues, which, whilst based on history, address issues in contemporary society.

The Story of the prison hulk Sacramento. Originally moored in Corio Bay, and later moved to the shores of Hobson’s Bay the crew abandoned Sacramento in search for gold. The government purchased several abandoned ships including the Sacramento and turned them into a floating Prison Hulks to ease overcrowding in the gaols. Ned Kelly served part of his prison sentence on board the Sacramento and Joe Dipisa, who has made a study of the vessel, will entertain you with the facts surrounding the ship and the time Ned served on board the Hulk.

During the siege at Glenrowan in June 1880, all four members of the Kelly gang wore suits of armour made from the mould boards of ploughshares.
This, now famous, armour was used just once, but nevertheless made the Kelly’s a household name. Despite the police wanting the amour destroyed after the siege, it fortunately survived and 130 years later its universally accepted as one of Australia’s most recognizable icons.

This exhibition, the first outside of a capital city, is only the fourth time all four suits of armour have been together in 130 years.
Truly, a once in a lifetime opportunity to see all the armour together. If you only come to Beechworth to do one thing this weekend, this is it.

The old vans are gone as are the permanent residents. All the cabins are completly renovated from floor to ceiling with everything new. The amenaties block is as good as it gets and our camp kitchen, BBQ area and kids sand pit lets you relax with some of the best views of the alpine ranges.
A walking path at the front of the business allows you to walk to Glenrowan or visit the local orchards or winery.
The park is only minutes from Winton raceway and with our large family units and bunk house we can cater for the lot
