Location 103 km east of Melbourne.
Warragul is both the administrative hub of West Gippsland and the nucleus of one of richest farming areas. It provides the commercial, sporting and cultural to its farming community, which, in turn, provides most of Melbournes milk.Warragul was created out of swamp, marshland and towering forests just over 100 years ago. Several National Trust classified buildings date from the 1880s and a timber wall panel in the Civic Centre depicts the local history, complete with taped commentary. The West GippsIand Arts Centre is regarded as a Mecca of performance and visual arts in the region, playing host to a range of festivals and exhibitions throughout the year. A sizeable shopping centre provides for most needs. Located between the Strzeleckis and the Baw Baw Plateau, Warragul is an excellent base from which to explore the delightful countryside to the north and south, including the Baw Baw snowfields and Gourmet Deli Country.
