Identified by its distinctive avenue of palms, Seppeltsfield Road leads from Barossa Valley Way to the iconic Seppeltsfield Winery. The Seppelt family settled in the Barossa in 1851 and purchased the property now known as Seppeltsfield. Their vines flourished in this fertile valley and from small beginnings, the business continued to expand, until at the turn of the 20th Century it was Australia's largest winery.
Many of the current day homes in the village of Seppeltsfield were originally built as worker’s cottages, and the Seppeltsfield Winery precinct has more than 30 historic buildings including the smokehouse, homestead, dining room and distillery. The newly renovated stables are home to JamFactory, a contemporary craft and design studio, with resident artisans. The highly awarded FINO restaurant offers an extraordinary dining experience in the original 1900s Seppelt bottling hall. The Seppelt family Mausoleum rises grandly on a nearby hilltop, built in the style of a Greek Doric temple. It affords extraordinary views across the valley floor for those willing to make the climb. For the ultimate view, take a sunrise balloon flight over this spectacular landscape!
Izway Wines, Sieber Wines, Milhinch Wines and Hentley Farm are among the many cellar doors in the area, with Hentley Farm Restaurant offering a culinary journey of discovery in elegantly restored stables set among the vines. The area offers award-winning luxury accommodation through to family friendly cabins for those who want to take time to explore everything that Seppeltsfield has to offer.
