Quorn, in the heart of the Flinders Ranges is a town that retains much of its old-world character. Experience the grandeur of the district by exploring the tracks and trails, ranges and gorges of the ‘unexplored’ Flinders.

Quorn is Home to the Pichi Richi Railway, a treasured journey that meanders through the rugged countryside of the Pichi Richi Pass. Pichi Richi Railway runs steam and heritage diesel rolling stock on the narrow-gauge line between Quorn and Port Augusta.

The ruins of the Kanyaka Station are all that remain of the once huge sheep station of about 950 square kilometres. Take a short walk to Death Rock, steeped in Aboriginal history or stroll around Powell Gardens, the Quorn Native Flora Reserve with a lovely outlook over Quorn. The Dutchman’s Stern Conservation Park walk and Warren Gorge’s walking trail have spectacular views. Devils Peak, with its bold outcropping of Quartzite and Mount Brown, provides plenty of interest for geologists and bushwalkers.

Quorn has also been the backdrop for many Australian films, such as Sunday Too Far Away, The Shiralee, Gallipoli, and The Water Diviner.
