Tullah is a peaceful former mining town, surrounded by a beautiful landscape of lakes, rivers and mountain ranges.
Located on the edge of Lake Rosebery, Tullah was originally a small mining town that was later extended in the 1970s to accommodate workers on the Hydro Electric Power Scheme.
Today, this town with two histories is a relaxed lakeside village in a scenic and remote setting among the forested slopes of Mount Farrell and Mount Murchison.
Tullah is a quiet and friendly town with curious shops and quirky attractions. There's a teddy bear house museum and the Wee George Wood Stean Railway that once transported pioneers into Tullah - the only mechanical access to the town up until the 1960s. You can take a 25 minute ride (1.5 km) – right in the centre of town.
Boating and fishing are popular local pastimes and it's easy to get in on the act or take a simple relaxing stroll along the edge of the lake. Stay at the Lakeside Lodge, have a meal and meet the locals over a brew, or choose from a range of other places to stay in this disarming lakeside village retreat.
Explore the wilderness around Tullah on walking and mountain bike trails with guided nature tours available on sea kayak, canoe or horseback. Contact the Lakeside Lodge for details.
