Pop: nominal 20km N.W. of Maffra This tiny village once produced the red gum paving blocks for Melbourne streets and the stringybark for the flooring of Australia House in London. Buildings of note include the 1874 Mechanics Institute, the 1880 Briagolong Hotel, the 1873 primary school and several private homes. The agricultural township specialises in the production of honey and fruit growing.
