Birrarung Park

Located beside the Yarra River, Birrarung Park is made up of delightful wetlands with a variety of birds and spectacular river scenery. Bring your own bait and drop a line in the Yarra River.

Brimbank Park

Brimbank Park is a big amphitheatre formed by the Maribyrnong River flowing at the base of a high bank, 55 metres below the western plain. The park is part of the Maribyrnong Valley Parklands and is ideal for scenic walks, fishing, canoeing, bird watching, kite flying, and picnicking.

Jells Park

Nestled in the heart of parklands linked by Dandenong Creek, Jells Park is a diverse recreation destination offering walking, cycling and fishing. The area is abundant with native plants and wildlife. Visitors can fish from the jetties on the western side of the lake (outside of the conservation area) for carp, short-finned eels, or even a redfin eel.

Maribyrnong River

The Maribyrnong River begins on the slopes of Mount Macedon and flows to Port Phillip Bay. Fishing is popular from jetties and fishing platforms alongside parks and reserves on either side of the river.

Patterson River

The Patterson River is the most popular boating gateway to Port Phillip Bay. Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy estuary fishing for bream, mullet, Australian salmon and trevally. There are well-equipped tackle and bait suppliers.

Plenty Gorge Park

Plenty Gorge Park offers fishing enthusiasts the chance to try their luck at Blue Lake. The park is only 24 km from Melbourne's CBD and features the spectacular Plenty Gorge, landscape views and abundant native wildlife. Don't forget to bring your own bait.

Warrandyte State Park

Warrandyte State Park is made up of a number of different areas linked by the Yarra River. Only 24km from Melbourne, the picturesque park features rolling hills tinged blue-green from the eucalypt foliage. Bring your own bait (digging for worms in the river bank is not permitted) and take in the peaceful surroundings.

Yarra Bend Park

Yarra Bend Park is the largest area of natural vegetation near the near Melbourne's CBD. It boasts more than 16 km of river frontage plus superb views of the city and the Dandenong Ranges. Practise your casting at the international fly-casting pool or just find a spot to relax while waiting for the fish to bite.
