Strathalbyn is one of the prettiest towns in South Australia. It has maintained its charm and village-like setting whilst still managing to become a thriving country town. It offers a wide variety of independent shopping options and events for both tourists and locals. It is 60 km southeast of Adelaide on the banks of the River Angas, situated on the cusp of the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu regions.
The Town has numerous antique shops, bric-a-brac outlets, op-shops and second hand book stores. Antiques are concentrated in the High-Street shopping precinct, with other second-hand shopping opportunities located in the side streets off Dawson Street,
Strathalbyn is a horse lover’s paradise, with an attractive racecourse, polo grounds and trotting track. Riding schools also offer lessons to visitors and residents, and there are several riding clubs catering for all age groups.
